On Tuesday February 28th, Randy Watson came to Kansas State University to talk to education majors. Before Dr. Watson begin his presentation an element school choir came in and performed two amazing songs. Both songs connected closely with the message of the lecture. During Dr. Watsons presentation he hit upon many aspects of education. He started his presentation by showing just how important we are as educators. Dr. Watson explained that we are molding the future of the nation. He went on to explain how much of an impact we make and how to be stay engaged with our students. He then moved into where Kansas as a state is going as far as Education. In today's political client everyone is worried about what is going on in DC but not what is going on locally. Dr. Watson explained that Kansas is going in another direction. One of the largest educational study in the country was conducted, at Kansas State University, to find what the people of Kansas want. The study was a success. The point that really stuck with me was the increase in vocational education. As an agricultureal education major vocational education in what I focus on. This is of great benefit to my content area. The people of Kansas want studnets to be ready for the workforce right out of high school. The recognize that not all students are meant for secondary education. This means that they want students to be trained in vocational skills. This was a great speech and I really enjoyed the presentation.
